Shoreline is a Space Between…

From the land, it’s where we look out and dream of a journey to come. From the water, it’s where we look to for direction and the promise of steady ground.

Where can we go to gather…to set a course…to prepare for a new journey or to resupply for the one already underway?

Go Beyond Fun – Put Faith into Practice

You want your students to have fun. You also want them to grow in their faith. Too often experiences are either one or the other – or awkwardly alternate between the two.

We know how to have fun; our passion is forming faith in the process. We put 90+ years of experience into creating an environment where every moment – whether in a worship service or out on the water, around the dinner table or 30 feet off the ground – is about practicing faith in Christian community. Fun for fun’s sake is fleeting; practice makes faith permanent.

Stephanie joined the year-round NGCRM team in 2015 after multiple years on summer staff with Glisson, Grow, and ELI. She served on Glisson’s summer leadership team for four summers (’09,’10, ’12, ’13), then joined Grow Day Camps and ELI as a Program Director for the ’14 and ’15 summers. Stephanie’s role with NGCRM includes coordinating all aspects of Shoreline, Grow Day Camps, and the Experiential Leadership Institute (ELI). Prior to her role at NGCRM, Stephanie taught high school science and Spanish in North Carolina and Georgia and served for a year with a ministry organization in Kenya. Stephanie lives in Dahlonega and attends Dahlonega UMC.

After multiple summers as a Glisson camper and then counselor in ’05, Cameron came back to camp in ’08 and never really left. What began as an internship morphed into various roles and jobs titles since. His latest role is a double-whammy: Co-Director of Grow+ELI+Shoreline and Director of Communications for North Georgia Camp & Retreat Ministries. Cameron is married to Britt who is a dietitian at Emory Decatur Hospital. They live in Decatur with their children, Eli and Callie, and are active members of Decatur First UMC.

Elle served on Summer Staff  at Shoreline’s sibling ministry, Glisson, back in 2015, 2016, 2017. She was introduced to Glisson through summer camp and attending fall youth retreats with her home church. From those experiences, she fell in love with Glisson and all it has to offer. Elle graduated from Young Harris College in May, 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in Outdoor Leadership. As an intern, she’s excited to learn more about Camp & Retreat Ministries. Elle is looking forward to finding out what God has in store for her future.

Autumn began her camp ministry journey as a Glisson camper in 2005. She went on to participate in ELI and Crew. In 2016, Autumn served on Summer Staff as a Village counselor and a Site Director for Grow+ELI+Shoreline from 2017-2019. Autumn graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Leadership and Psychology. She returned to North Georgia Camp and Retreat Ministries in 2020 as a Program Intern.
